Blowfish,
known in Veteran
chef Yutaka Sasaki’s business card lampoons the
image that eating blowfish is the gastronomic
equivalent of bungee jumping with a frayed cord.
“Try mysterious blow fish taste,” it tempts.
“One hundred percent guarantee that you will live to
tell the tale -- if you eat it in my restaurant.” Through
the years, some have died from eating the fugu!
In the 1950s, Sasaki was alarmed by the high
death and injury rate associated with the fish -- 400
killed and 31,056 sickened in one year alone. It
is only deadly in the wrong hands, Sasaki argues. Fugu
anyone? Fugu
only kills some people, but there is a greater, more
deadly malady that is 100% LETHAL!
That deadly malady is SIN! “For ALL have
SINNED and fall short of the glory of God” and
“the wages of
sin is DEATH”
(Romans 3:23; 6:23).
Satan tries to make sin look appealing
(“delicious”), but in reality it is deadly
(Hebrews 3:13)! However,
there is a Remedy, and it is 100% EFFECTIVE!
God loved us so much that He gave His Son to die on the cross for our
sins (John 3:16).
The blood of Jesus purifies us from all sin
when we submit to Him on His terms: faith (believing Him), Acts 16:30-31; repentance
(turning from our sins), Acts 17:30-31; confession
(that Jesus is the Son of God), Romans 10:9-10; and baptized
(immersion) for the forgiveness of sins, Acts 2:38.
Then, as we continue to walk in the light of
His word, the blood of Jesus continues to cleanse us
from all sin (1 John 1:7). For the wages of sin is death, Yes,
we have all partaken of the deadly bait of sin, but
Jesus can give us LIFE – IF we will trust and obey
Him. Won’t
