How the World Will End

A new report claims to offer "the first science-based list of global risks with a potentially infinite impact where in extreme cases all human life could end."  The authors of the report – led by Dennis Pamlin of the Global Challenge Foundation and Stuart Armstrong of the Future of Humanity Institute – define "infinite impact" to mean “risks capable of either causing human extinction or leading to a situation where ‘civilization collapses to a state of great suffering and does not recover.’”

According to their research, here are....

“The 12 Things Most Likely to Destroy the World”
:

1. Catastrophic Climate Change.

2. Nuclear War.

3. Global Pandemic.

4. Ecological Catastrophe.

5. Global System Collapse.

6. Major Asteroid Impact.

7. Supervolcano.

8. Synthetic Biology.

9. Nanotechnology.

10. Artificial Intelligence.

11. Future Bad Governance.

12. Unknown Unknowns. *

To the inscription of “Unknown Unknowns,” God, "who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth” (Acts 17:24) has revealed how the world will come to an end:

7But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for FIRE, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 8But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.  10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.” – 2 Peter 3:7-10 NASB

As Brett Petrillo has noted: “To put it simply, the world is going to be destroyed by FIRE… The specific ways God will use fire to destroy the world is a mystery, but the universe will one day be burned up with fire.  We no longer need to wonder and speculate.”

NOW... “Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way,” the question is: “What sort of people ought you [WE!] to be?” (2 Peter 3:11).

God’s answer: We need to be Christians!  Just as Noah and his family needed to be in the ARK to escape the coming destruction by WATER, you and I need to be IN CHRIST to escape the coming destruction by FIRE - because Christ IS God’s solution to what will lead us to “eternal destruction” (Matthew 7:13-14).   “For the wages of sin is DEATH, but the gift of God is ETERNAL LIFE in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Because of God’s love for us, Christ died on the cross for our sins so that we might have forgiveness and receive the gift of eternal life (John 3:16; Ephesians 1:7).

God will save those who place their faith and trust in Jesus (Acts 16:30-31), turn from their sins in repentance (Acts 17:30-31), confess Jesus before men (Romans 10:9-10), and are baptized  (immersed) into Christ for the forgiveness of their sins (Acts 2:38; Galatians 3:26-27).  He will continue to cleanse those who continue to walk in the light of His Word (1 John 1:7).

Yes, one day the world will come to an end; it will be destroyed by fire.  “But he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:17).

Won’t YOU “do His will” and accept His offer of salvation and eternal life on His terms?
