"Jesus Never Said"

ChurchPOP.com has listed “11 of the Best Things Jesus Never Said” (gleaned from https://www.facebook.com/ThingsJesusNeverSaid).  Here are six of them along with what Jesus actually said:

Jesus never said, “Get with the times.”

  • Jesus actually said, "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” – Matthew 24:37-39

Jesus never said, “It doesn’t really matter what you do as long as deep down inside you’re a good person.”

  • Jesus actually said, “Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” – Matthew 7:21

Jesus never said, “No one comes to the Father except through Me, but that’s My opinion and all other opinions are equally valid.”

  • Jesus actually said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” – John 14:6.  “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." – John 8:32

Jesus never said, “This is your best life now, live your dreams.  Unleash your full potential.  Buy material goods and make yourself happy.”

  • Jesus actually said, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” – Luke 12:15

Jesus never said, “Has no man condemned you?  Then neither do I condemn you.  Now go, and do whatever makes you happy.”

  • Jesus actually said, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” – John 8:11.  “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” – Luke 13:3

Jesus never said, “Enter by the broad gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to life, and there are many who go in by it.  Because broad is the gate and easy is the way that leads to life, and there are many who find it.”

  • Jesus actually said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14

It’s important to know what Jesus actually said, for He is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the King of kings and Lord of lords.

God will save from sin and give eternal life to those who place their faith and trust in Jesus (Acts 16:30-31), turn from sin in repentance (Acts 17:30-31), confess Him before men (Romans 10:9-10), and are baptized (immersed) into Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38).  God will continue to cleanse those who continue to follow what Jesus (and His inspired apostles and New Testament writers) actually said (1 John 1:7).

Study God’s Word.  Know what He said.  Understand His love for you.  Surrender your will to His.  He will do what He says.

Won’t YOU?
