The Light is Green

You are driving down the street and you come to a GREEN light...what do you do?
You calmly continue through the intersection - right?

Well, you have just exercised something called "faith".  You believe the light in the opposite direction is RED, that the approaching drivers are paying close attention to notice the signal, and that they have the ability to stop!

Whether we realize it or not, we exercise faith in every aspect of our daily lives.  We have a prescription filled at the local pharmacy without even a second thought.  The pharmacist interprets the physician’s (often difficult to read) instructions, scoops some colored pills into a plastic container, slaps on a label with the prescribed dosage, and we believe that the medication we have received will help make us better, not worse.  Yes, whether we mail a letter, travel by land, air or sea, eat at a restaurant, start a new job, buy a home, enter into marriage, etc., faith is an active agent in each of our daily lives.  Faith is the confidence that puts TRUST into ACTION!

Faith also plays a vital role in our relationship to God and salvation from SIN.

In fact, the Bible teaches us that "without faith - it is impossible to please God.  For he that comes to God must believe that He is AND that he rewards THOSE who diligently SEEK Him" (Hebrews 11:6).

Notice there are two parts here:  We BELIEVE God - AND - We COME to Him.

There is a BIG difference in; Believing IN God (having a mental awareness of His existence) and BELIEVING God (trusting and obeying His Word).  Believing IN God should lead us to BELIEVE God. BELIEVING God should lead us to ACT upon our faith.

THIS is how we COME to God!

In order to be saved from sin - we must believe in God and Jesus His Son, trust
His promises, turn from our sins to Him (i.e., repent – Acts 17:30-31), confess our faith in Him (Romans 10:9-10), and ACT upon our faith by submitting to baptism for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38).  Then as Christians, our faith should continue to
act in obedience to God (James 2:14-26).  Because the FAITH that SAVES - is the FAITH that OBEYS!

The light is GREEN!  Will YOU not ACT upon your faith today?

God bless you.
