Fatal Attraction
In
Southern Mexico
lies the Cueva de Villa Luz, or "Cave
of the Lighted House."
The path to the cave is through a veritable paradise
of tropical birds and lush rain forest. The cave is
fed by 20 underground springs -- beautiful
watercourses that teem with tiny fish. The cave itself
is home to spectacular rock formations and beautiful
ponds. The environment is so beautiful, so inviting.
Yet, accept the invitation and you’ll soon be dead.
You see, the Cueva de Villa Luz is filled with LETHAL
poisonous gases.
SIN
is just like this! It presents itself to us as
something inviting, attractive, life-giving. Yet in
reality, it is poisonous, toxic, and deadly...
Oh
yes, sin IS pleasurable, but only for a short time (Hebrews
11:25). In
the end, it brings DEATH (Romans 6:23).
“Each one is tempted when he is drawn away by
his OWN desires and enticed. Then, when desire has
conceived, it gives birth to SIN;
and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth
DEATH” (James 1:14-15).
None
of us has resisted sin’s temptations perfectly;
we’ve all been seduced by its empty promises:
“For ALL have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
But because of His great love for us (John
3:16), God sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins (2
Corinthians 5:21) so that we might be forgiven (Eph
1:7).
God will forgive and cleanse from sin those who:
place their faith
in Jesus (Acts 16:30-31), turn from sin in repentance
(Acts 17:30-31), confess
Jesus before men (Romans 10:9-10), and are baptized
(immersed) into Christ for the forgiveness of sins
(Acts 2:38). God
will CONTINUE to cleanse those who CONTINUE to walk in
the light of His Word (1 John 1:7).
Don’t
be deceived by appearances: Sin is DEADLY….
And it will cost you your SOUL in the end!
Accept
sin’s CURE while there is hope!
