Recalled
The
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a U.S.
Government agency, issued a consumer advisory this
week to the owners of about 4.6 million recalled Ford
vehicles.
The
NHTSA urged these owners to bring their cars and
trucks immediately to Ford dealerships to disconnect
cruise control switch systems that have been linked to
engine fires. About
9.6 million Ford vehicles have been recalled since
1999. About
5 million owners have brought their cars in for the
needed repairs. There
is concern for the remaining vehicles that have not
yet responded to the recall.
According
to Ken Thomas of the Associated Press, three deaths
have been tied to the fires. NHTSA also claims that they have received about 60 complaints
of engine fires in the Ford vehicles since August
2007. Although the automaker has struggled to produce enough parts
to fix the problem, Ford said they supported the
action and will provide a permanent fix.
“We
absolutely want everybody to come in as soon as they
can because we can eliminate the risk of fire for
anyone with a vehicle in this recall,” said Ford
Motor Co. spokesman Wes Sherwood. *
Consider
an application of this recall as it relates to our
LIVES…
ALL
humanity has been made in the image of God; but,
because of SIN, this image has been broken, distorted,
marred (see Genesis 1:26).
It is not a defect caused by our Maker, but
one that has resulted from our own wrong choices. “For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
(Romans 3:23). If
the problem is ignored, fatalities are not just
probable; they are definite!
“For the wages of sin is death” (Romans
6:23; James 1:14-15).
Because
of God’s love for us, a solution is to our grave
problem IS available!
God gave His Son to die on the cross on our
behalf to pay the price for our sins (Ephesians 1:7).
Through Him, we have forgiveness of our sins
and the hope of eternal life.
In
order to have our problem “fixed,” we must heed
the “recall.”
God calls each of us through the Gospel, the
good news of Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:14).
To heed the “recall,” we must believe
in Jesus (Acts 16:30-31), turn from our sins in repentance
(Acts 17:30-31), confess
Jesus before men (Romans 10:9-10), and be baptized
(immersed) into Christ for the forgiveness of our sins
(Acts 2:38). Then,
as long as we continue to follow the Instruction
Manual, God’s Word, He will continue to cleanse us
from sin (1 John 1:7).
God
wants EVERYONE to respond to His recall so that we
might be saved.
He “desires ALL men to be saved and to come to the
knowledge of the truth”
(1 Timothy 2:4).
Won’t
YOU respond to His
recall?
