For His Children

“Harley Moser loves his muscle cars.  But he loves his children even more,” writes Gary Gastelu.

Moser’s adult children, Justin and Molly, were both born with an adrenal disease that is requiring more treatment and greater costs.

In order to help defray the costs of his children’s medical bills, Moser is selling his collection of classic Plymouth and Dodge “muscle cars” and a few old trucks.  Included in his auction is a "barn find" condition 1970 Dodge Charger RT coupe with its original engine and a restored 1970 Plymouth GTX coupe.  He is also selling his favorite vehicle: a 1952 Studebaker R15 pickup that comes with panel sides and a vintage Coca-Cola cooler in the bed.

A 1969 Ford Fairlane 500-based Torino GT 428 Cobra Jet clone is also being sold in the auction even though it is not owned by Moser.  This classic was donated to the auction by a family friend, Shari, who had been helped in the past by Moser’s wife, Barb (now deceased).  The car had belonged to Shari’s husband, Fred, who died from cancer earlier this year.

Moser and his wife had collected the cars through the years as an investment, but he is gladly parting with these vehicles in order to help his children.  Moser says he knows his wife, who died from cancer over 10 years ago, would also approve. *

Because of our sin, our condition is fatal (Romans 3:23; 6:23).  But God loves us and desires to save us from sin and bring us into His family and to an eternal home.

The “price” for our salvation is incredibly high.  It required the death of God’s one and only Son for our sins, for only the sinless Son of God could pay the price of redemption for sinful mankind (2 Corinthians 5:21).

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

The Apostle Peter reminded Christians of the price that was paid for their redemption: “You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

God will save from sin, add to His family, and give eternal life to those who place their faith and trust in Jesus (Acts 16:30-31), turn from their sins in repentance (Acts 17:30-31), confess Jesus before men (Romans 10:9-10), and are baptized (immersed) into Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38).  He will continue to cleanse from sin those who continue to walk in the light of His Word (1 John 1:7-9).

The price of our salvation came at great cost to the Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus.  But God was willing to pay the price because of His love for you and me.  That incredible love should be gladly reciprocated by humbly and gratefully submitting our lives to Him.
